Mid-Century Contemporary takes the most enduring qualities of 1950s and 60s design and brings them into a home built for the way we actually live now. The graphic silhouettes remain. The organic sculptural forms are still there. What changes is how they are used, the materials they sit alongside and the palette that anchors them.
Warm walnut and teak tones, cognac leather, aged brass and textured upholstery work with contemporary elements: marble surfaces, open shelving and clean architectural lines. The result is a home that feels both rooted in design history and completely current. Never nostalgic. Always considered.
What distinguishes this style from pure Mid-Century Modern is its willingness to mix. A Platner chair alongside a contemporary sofa. A Saarinen table in a room that is otherwise thoroughly of today. The era informs, but does not dictate.

Warm walnut and teak tones
The richness of walnut and teak is what gives Mid-Century Contemporary its particular warmth. Used in furniture legs, cabinetry and shelving, these tones anchor a room in a way that lighter timbers simply cannot.
Organic and sculptural furniture
The curved sofa, the egg chair, the tulip table. These forms are immediately recognisable as design classics. In a Contemporary setting they function as art pieces as much as furniture, and their placement in a room matters as much as their selection.
Cognac leather and velvet
Tan leather and jewel-toned velvet are the two upholstery choices most associated with the era. Used with restraint, either one adds an immediate sense of richness that synthetic or neutral fabrics cannot replicate.
Aged brass and black steel
Hardware, lighting and frame finishes in aged brass and matte black are the metal language of this style. They tie disparate elements together and give the room a sense of considered completeness without becoming decorative.
