Having a tired apartment with a tight laundry, awkward corners and outdated cabinetry – in such a great location – called for a complete transformation! Starting with the selection of a beautiful coastal-look flooring to lighten up throughout, then carrying through that gorgeous light and airy feel to the hard finishes while contrasting with a strong pop of the clients’ favourite colour, every space flows and communicates with each other creating harmony and a sense of tranquillity. Large format splashback tiles keep grout to a minimum and the pantry extending onto the corner with pull-outs at the bottom provides a minimum of 1.5x storage and does away with the dark benchtop corner which was both awkward and visually unappealing. A bi-fold section provides ample storage for appliances and narrow storage along the dining side of the bench offers a home for entertaining glassware previously wasted. The removal of the wall separating the main bathroom from the tiny laundry created a lovely spacious multi-function area with plenty of storage which is also present in the ensuite despite its small size – even including an in-built laundry basket. Last but not least, a not-required bedroom gave way to a functional 2-person home office featuring a balance of closed and open spaces for both functionality and aesthetics.
