Does my home need Home Staging / Styling for resale?
When putting up your home for resale, presentation is KEY. You know what they say, first impressions count… and they stick. You can have an amazing home, but if your home staging can’t present it in a way where prospective buyers can see themselves enjoying the space, your chances of selling are minimized.
A sofa placed in an awkward position, a TV unit in front of a window, an armchair blocking a passage, and all of a sudden the room screams out “I wasn’t designed for this usage”! Yes, sometimes a room really is terribly designed and no layout can make it work like it should, but you can minimize the damage to present it in the best possible light… or at least avoid the elephant in the room from standing out.
Beautiful furniture and attractive pieces also do not necessarily present themselves as well as they can, until they are professionally styled, positioned and combined. You may love the way that floorlamp looks in this room…. But have you tried it elsewhere? A fresh set of eyes is essential when preparing your property to go on the market, because often we have grown so used to our homes, we are unable to see how else it can look.
Remember, Home Staging is not for you and your taste – it needs to appeal to your target market. A fresh approach will give your home a facelift and widen your chances of a bigger profit. Every home has the potential to look and function much better!
How does a Home Staging / Styling consult work?
Alana will visit your premises and do a walkthrough of all rooms to get a good idea of the current condition the home is in, and the furniture and styling pieces you currently have and are hoping to use for the home staging.
She will get to work re-arranging your furniture (within the limits of what is possible to move there and then.. some items may require your assistance or you will be left with instructions to organize help later) and staging each room to look its best, including changing bedlinen around.
If a room can benefit from some new additions or replacements, Alana will suggest specific items – at as low a cost as possible – to be purchased. Once finished, Alana will photograph each room and send you the photos so you can recreate the home staging styling yourself if needed. Alana can also do a return consult on the day your photography is booked to make sure everything is styled as it should be, if you prefer.
Please note that Alana O Interiors is unable to offer furniture rental services for home staging. The Home Staging / Styling service is only suitable for those hoping to use their own furniture, or buy new. If furniture rental is required, there are other companies who specialize in renting for home staging.
