PreStart Consult Perth
Why should I get an interior designer to help me with PreStart selections?
PreStart is arguably the most important part of your building process. At PreStart you will make most of the vital decisions that will shape how the finished home will look and function. But PreStart is also one of the most stressful parts of building, as the vast amount of choices, decisions, colours, finishes, and considerations can be very overwhelming and intimidating.
PreStart meetings tend to run for a few hours and if you don’t go into the meeting with all – or at least most – of your PreStart selections guide booklet filled in and ready to go, you will feel very rushed to make those decisions there and then. By going through your selections with an interior designer ahead of your meeting date, you will be guided by their experience both for aesthetics and functionality, and you’ll have time to weigh up your choices before you need to make them final at PreStart.
In terms of looks, as there is a vast array of colours / finishes to choose from, it’s important to ensure the selections flow effortlessly from room to room, and match your taste and personality as well.
In terms of functionality, your designer may suggest some changes to the floorplan that you had not considered (there is so much to think of, especially if it’s your first time building! It’s perfectly normal to not have picked up on a few things worth changing!), for example, the ideal position of shower tapware.
Maybe you’ve come prepared with ideas you gathered online for what’s “trending” in interior design but are they functional? Or will they be very high maintenance? Sure, they looked good on that display home! But family life is far from a fairytale and functionality and practicality must be high up on your priorities too!
Take the guesswork out of your PreStart selections by trusting a professional interior designer to mindfully select the colours and finishes that will bring your new build vision to life, carefully assessing what will work and what won’t and talking you through the selections so you can enjoy the process with the peace of mind that only an interior designer can bring to the PreStart selections process.

How long does a PreStart Selections Consult go for?
It all depends on how many of the selections you feel you need/want help with, and, mostly, on your ability to be a strong decision-maker. A consult can be as short, or as long, as you need it to be. A Prestart consult will usually start at 3 hours, but can go for a few more depending on whether we need to visit many different showrooms and where they’re located in relation to each other.
Most selections can be made by just visiting the Tiles showroom and the Flooring showroom, as most tiles shops that deal with builders tend to also have the applicable samples for cabinetry and stone benchtops available to view. If we need to look at bricks and window frame colours, these can usually be found at Subiaco Home Base. One thing is for sure, the time taken to get the Prestart selections right will be absolutely worth it!
